I have a Ubuntu 12.04 home server running samba. I use autofs to mount a share from that server on my Arch desktop. This worked fine until about a week ago. Now if I try to cd to the mount point, the terminal hangs a long time. Eventually, I can run an ls, but trying to list a subdirectory with a lot of files get stuck indefinitely. Accessing it through thunar or dolphin also hangs. Strangely, using sshfs instead of cifs also hangs.
If I use my Crunchbang netbook, or a Windows laptop to access the share, it works fine. sshfs on the netbook also works. So the problem seems to be specific to the Arch desktop. I don't see any sign of problems in logs on either end (the samba server log, server syslog, desktop journalctl -xn and dmesg).
Any thoughts? It's probably related to a pacman update at some point, but since I don't access the share frequently, I can't be sure when. I also tried using systemd's automount instead, it also hangs.
