wpa_cli >scan_results output off display

Greetings dear friends,

I've happily discovered how to use wpa_supplicant. Sadly, however, the output of

# wpa_cli
> scan
> scan_results

can occassionally produce more results than my plucky but diminutive laptop screen is capable of displaying.

Of course, the strongest networks disappear over the top where I can't see them, and since this is wpa_cli's internal prompt, piping to less doesn't work.

Any way to solve this without installing additional software?
