For starters you can share some hardware info and the output of

$ systemd-analyze blame

Re: system booted in 18 secs

if you only want to disable grub menu at boot then you need to edit file /etc/default/grub
Open that file in editor then look for following

GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=10
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true

If they are not there add them, if commented then comment-out.
Value for GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET should be true to hide grub menu during boot.

After making changes, regenerate grub config file (if you made any changes in /boot/grub/grub.cfg, they will lost)

grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Now reboot and check.

CAUTION: Playing with grub incorrectly may make your system not to boot, so be careful.

Re: system booted in 18 secs

Well, 18 seconds isn't really bad, unless it's an UEFI system. If it is an UEFI system, did you install arch in uefi mode or did you use legacy BIOS?
You might want to look at wiki and see if you can find out what slows down your system.

after doing what you said.when i tried to regenrate the grub.conf file it said

Warning: Setting GRUB_TIMEOUT to a non-zero value when GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT is set is no longer supported.

also should i have to keep GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=10 or should i change it to '1' or '0'.

Re: system booted in 18 secs

18 seconds seems fine for a non-SSD system.

What makes you think this is bad?

Re: system booted in 18 secs

You've installed a complete DE environment, including the kitchen sink of daemons. 18 seconds is already more than generous.

Do not make it '0', put sume value there.
But try to set GRUB_TIMEOUT to 0.

i had crunchbang in this system before which used to boot in 12 sec.
and now ,i just installed arch a week ago,every time i start it it shows some mesg about
"bmrcmac"or something  before DM comes .so i checked dmesg which showed too many warnings and error messages.that's what made me think it is a bad thing..wait a bit i will color code the the warnings and errors
