[Solved] Unable to connect to university network

Hello everyone, since last week I can't connect to the university wifi network anymore. I've tried different things like starting/stopping dhcpcd on my wifi interface (wlp3s0, normally I only run it on my ethernet interface) and deleting and re-creating the profile for the network on NetworkManager but nothing worked. This is the journal of an attempt to connect:

All seems to work fine until "client_start: assertion 'priv->client_type != 0' failed". I'm fairly certain I didn't change anything about my wifi configuration on purpose on the weekend before that might have caused the issue. So I checked the logs and I found this in pacman.log:

So there were updates to the archlinux-keyring and gnupg which I think are significant. As far as I understand, the archlinux-keyring is used for signing packages in pacman and shouldn't interfere but there was also a upgrade to gnupg and an update to the trust database. So my current "theory" is that there is some sort of problems with security which is why the connection is terminated...

I tried a few things that I found on the wiki like copying the certificates to /etc/ca-certificates/trust-source/anchors and rebuilding the trust database but that didn't work either. Since I can't claim I know what I'm doing I was hoping someone might be able to help me here... thanks in advance!

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to university network

Can you connect manually without using NetworkManager?

Can you connect with a different (live) distribution?

The given reason ("-3") seems to suggest that the access point has terminated -- have you checked with your University's wi-fi providers?

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to university network

Thanks for your reply. I can't try connecting manually right now (it's Sunday evening after all) but I'll try that tomorrow. I recall having troubles connecting when I started uni half a year ago. I was using netctl and someone suggested using NetworkManager instead, which worked. I'm not sure what exactly was the problem though...

I have dualboot with Windows 7 and that is connecting fine. Altough, I did get a dialog asking me whether I really want to connect or something when I first started up last week. Unfortunately, I didn't read the dialog properly. I've asked classmates and some say they had this too but most didn't notice any difference so I'm not sure whether the wifi configuration changed.

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to university network

Hi,

I have the same problem.
changing dhcp=dhcpcd to dhcp=dhclient in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf fix the problem.

I have no idea where the problem come from with dhcpcd.
