March 2015 Screenshots thread

Incredible scrots, discussions and feedback all through January by everyone involved. Thank you!

Time for a new thread.

Posting Guidelines

· DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:

$ convert -resize 250x250 screenie.png thumb-screenie.png

Sizes Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies. For bigger sizes (and especially for multi-monitor setups), we ask you to keep in mind not everyone uses broadband, and use an even smaller size (10% of a Full HD setup will still be 192x108, for example).

NOTE: Anything wider than 250px or over 50Kb in size will be removed.

You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

thumb-20090621-3647748995.png
*Thanks to Thayer for the screenie (more...)

· Several websites offer free image hosting.

Use the "thumbnail for forums" link code that is supplied by the image host to post your thumbnail link.

· Once the new month begins please do not post new screenies in the old threads.

· If the screenshot has questionable material that might not be safe to view while at work or in a school setting, please post only a link and not a thumbnail, along with a mention of "Not Safe for Work". Posts that do not adhere to this are subject to deletion without notice at any time.

· Please try to include any links to your wallpaper or configs that you may have and/or the names of your icon theme, running apps, DE, etc. in the same post to reduce unnecessary clutter later.

***** Your screenshot will be replaced by a reminder if you do not follow these guidelines *****

* As a simple way to include information about your setup in the screenshot, you can use a tool like screenfetch (in [community]) or Archey, screenfo or alsi (all in AUR) to print out details about your window manager, font, shell etc., with a very attractive ASCII Arch logo...

Posting here since apparently it's no longer February... lol

(This is the small size thumbnail from imgur. I used the medium one before. Is medium too large?)

Alright, this is my current setup, that is almost the same as the one I posted back in December. Anyone have any suggestions on things to improve or something I could do to make it more pleasing to the eyes or to shake it up a bit.

Yet another Solarized desktop
rpsqrj.png

WM: dwm with cairo patch
Term: rxvt-unicode
Colors: Solarized Dark
Font: Ubuntu Mono
Gtk theme: Flatstudio Dark with some Solarized colors
Gtk icons: Numix
Browser: dwb (looking at the scrot now I see I forgot to recolor the tab numbers)
The file manager is Thunar.

I threw the recolor on github, but Flatstudio is a wreck and after my recolor it's even worse, probably unusable if you use it for more than Thunar and gcolor2. I did do *something* with Gtk3 though.
I'm having trouble remembering where I found the wallpaper, but this one's probably the same: http://www.wallpaperbases.com/Games-Des … papers.jpg

Looks nice! Can you link me to your bar config, or to the source if it isn't custom?

Re: March 2015 Screenshots thread

It's a bit messy, as I hack away at it in my downtime at work... inspired by earsplit's setup.
bspwm directory tar.gz

edit - it's similar enough that you could also just clone these dotfiles and customize. that's what i did

How does one set up the desktop display in dzen2? I would like to have a string of unicode characters (probably small centered dots) that represent each of my workspaces and one is colored to show that I am currently on that workspace, perhaps with an additional color to signify windows being present. I am assuming I could do this with a bash script.

Re: March 2015 Screenshots thread

@agahnim: Yes, I think the best way is to write a bash script that parses the information about the number of workspaces and then pipe the output to dzen. You can use wmctrl to get the information about the number of workspaces and windows opened.

@parazyd: sure, here there are the script I use to start dzen and the conky configuration. The font used are DejaVu Sans Mono for Powerline (provided by powerline-fonts-git) and xbmicons

dzenbar.sh

conky -c ~/Scripts/dzen/conkyrc | \
sed -u -e "s/##/██/g" -e "s/#_/█░/g" -e "s/__/░░/g" | \
dzen2 -e p2 -y -1 -fn ":size=8" -expand r -p 1

conkyrc
