[pppoe] New ADSL ISP, pppoe errors

I've recently changed ADSL provider and Monday I got my new login/pword in the mail.
So I changed the config on my router but here's what I get when I try to connect:

Could someone confirm if this is an error on my side or on the ISP's side (maybe my line hasn't been activated properly yet)?

My ADSL modem (Thomson/Alcatel SpeedTouch 510) is set to "bridged mode" meaning that it passes the connection over ethernet to my Linux box. The Linux box handles the connections, routing, firewalling, ...

Re: [pppoe] New ADSL ISP, pppoe errors

Well, it's a CHAP failure, so those annoying Level-1-type ISP support questions have to be answered first i.e.
- did you double-check that the name and password are spelt correctly?
- if it's case-specific, is the case correct?

Another thing, although this may not apply where you are - DSL ISPs around here assign a username e.g. foo123, but require username@something for PPPoE authentication, e.g. foo123@adsl.mynewisp.net.

If you're sure it's not any of the above, and you're still not connecting, then it's the ISP - the LCP lines immediately after "PPP session is 8466" show that the connection is established successfully, but subesquently fails to authenticate.

Re: [pppoe] New ADSL ISP, pppoe errors

I checked my personal account page @ the ISP and it seems they haven't recieved payment yet. That's probably the culprit. big_smile
