Encrypted volume and power outage — about getting informed

Hi Archers! If I have a file — truecrypt volume — and it's mounted, and there is a power outage, and I am not sure if any data is lost/damaged in that container, how can I find out that the power outage had its place while the container was mounted? 'Cause if I know that I can take some actions (like restoring backup container kept for such purposes). When I come to my PC and it's off I can't always recall whether I shut it down properly or it was on and while I was away electricity went off. But I backup my data regularaly and it would be very nasty to backup corrupted data overwriting the correct one. Is there a way to figure out if a particular truecrypt file container is damaged or not?
