Using router to connect desktop to main router

At this point, I've pretty much given up on trying to get my PCI wireless adapter to connect to the network, and wireless PCI connectivity in Linux seems to be a joke, unless the 4.x kernel will have better support. I have a Cisco e2000 router sitting around that I haven't used in a while since I bought a new router. Using the e2000 as an extender to connect to my pc via ethernet, how much do you think I would lose in terms of speed? Have any of you guys done this?

Re: Using router to connect desktop to main router

That is what I do. My main router is downstairs. Upstairs at my desk, I have a second 802.11ac router configured as a bridge (with dd-wrt), and the PC is connected to it by ethernet cable. My ac to ac connection is stable at 877 mbps, more than good enough for my needs.
