hii, I have a problem in my linux (ARCH), and even in other disto then ARCH,in Windows XP I dont have it.
The problem is that when surfing the WWW, and I need (my broswer) to resolve an IP for host name, for exmaple xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for www.archlinux.org , it is doing it very slow, like stuck for 2-3 seconds
I even tried messing up with the nsswitch.conf and resolv.conf and nothing.
I have a DHCP client and I set it to get my DNS from the /etc/resolv.conf file.
So, what can I do? :?:

If you use firefox, this is caused by IPv6 lookups. Firefox tries to resolve the name as an IPv6 address first (which seems to be quite slow), then it tries IPv4.
Enable the network.dns.disableIPv6 option in about:config.

I know this, any other idea? :?:

it may be that your dns host from your isp is slow. the reason it's fast in windows is that it has a built-in dns cache.
you may want to try finding a faster dns server (link), or you could read up a bit on how to install a dns cache (forum link)
