Operation too slow. Less than 1 bytes/sec transferred the last 10 seco

When I run pacman, I often get this error from pacman... I have a fw that runs antivirus scanning in flow mode that is causing this. I can either disable this entirely in my fw or I can disable only for mirrorhosts... But before I do this, are there any configuration I can do on pacman/curl to fix my problem?

Regards,

BTJ

Have you tried different mirrors?

As ai said, the problem is not the mirror, it is the antivirus scanning done by my firewall...

Not an Installation issue, moving to Networking...

Find the line of code in the pacman sources that causes the timeout, increase the time and recompile pacman with ABS?

Well, that is a solution but I think I put it a bit down in the solution stack... smile

Re: Operation too slow. Less than 1 bytes/sec transferred the last 10 seco

I guess the problem is, that the AV first fetches the file, scans it and only then reports it to the requesting machine. Considering that a) no AV I know of is able to really detect malware in a Linux package and b) every package goes through a signature check in pacman, it is probable a good idea to whitelist the mirror paths as far down the URI as you can.

Yes, I guess if there is no configuration to change the default timeout, whitelisting is the way to go... It might even make the download a bit faster too...... Thx... smile
