External OpenWRT router + virtual machines on Linux PC, different VLAN

Hello,

is the following configuration possible?

I want to set up a openwrt router which is connected to a linux machine (can be arch, but maybe something more long term) via one network cable. I then want to set up several DMZs on the router and put them in different VLANs, after which I would create network interfaces on the linux machine corresponding to the VLANs. So eth1_1 would be connected to the DMZ1 on the router, eth1_2 to the DMZ2 on the router etc. Afterwards I want to create VMs which are connected to one of these vlan network interfaces.

I guess the main problem is the network driver. Does this work with every network card? My machine has a realtek card on board, which I guess would be sufficient, but I don't know if it supports VLAN tags. How can I see this?

Thanks smile

I don't think you need hardware-support, it maybe faster if the hardware supports it.
