Touchpad stops working after suspend?

So I've run into a problem on a fresh install of Arch (see title). I have done rudimentary googling and come across this thread, but the solution proposed has a warning that it may corrupt my install, so I'm somewhat wary of it.

Random other information:

Neither dmesg nor journalctl say anything about my touchpad.
ASUS K501L series laptop with FocalTouch touchpad
GNOME desktop manager
The touchpad works properly if I reboot (until I sleep again)
