Hi,
I bought a "new" wireless card, but I can't connect me with this card; it always asks me my password.
So, following what I did:
Check my driver:
[eyome@Archlinux ~]$ lspci -k
02:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
Subsystem: Foxconn International, Inc. Device e016
Kernel driver in use: ath9k
Kernel modules: ath9k
Check the interface name:
[eyome@Archlinux ~]$ iw dev
phy#0
Interface wlp2s0
ifindex 3
wdev 0x1
addr 78:e4:00:77:09:c3
type managed
eyome@Archlinux ~]$ sudo ip link set wlp2s0 up
Check kernel messages:
[eyome@Archlinux ~]$ dmesg | grep wlp2s0
[ 15.288080] ath9k 0000:02:00.0 wlp2s0: renamed from wlan0
[ 20.990021] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlp2s0: link is not ready

[ 22.716834] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlp2s0: link is not ready
[eyome@Archlinux ~]$
Test to activate my wireless card:
[eyome@Archlinux ~]$ sudo ip link set wlp2s0 up
Mot de passe [sudo] de eyome :
[eyome@Archlinux ~]$ sudo ip link show wlp2s0

[eyome@Archlinux ~]$
Re-check kernel message:
[eyome@Archlinux ~]$ dmesg | grep wlp2s0

I tried also with another distro in live-USB and I had also the same result: I can't log in and it always asks me my passworD.
I use NetworkManager and I am out of idea, any helps would be greatly appreciated!

You have not shared about about how you are trying to connect. What networking service(s) are you running? Those look a bit like wpa_supplicant messages in the log, but you haven't mentioned using wpa_supplicant nor how (or whether) you've configued it.

Hi Trilby,
I would like to connect to my wifi hotspot, in my home.
By "services", you mean systemd services?

I have only use NetworkManager (via the gnome-center), I didn't touch to my wpa_supplicant settings
Sorry to seem dumb in this area, I am like Jon Snow here...
Thank you.

I've never used network manager - but it seems you are running both network manager and wpa_supplicant services. This may be the problem.
You might not have manually editted your wpa_supplicant configuration, but you must have put your network name and password into Network manager, right? Have you done this for the new interface card?
Hopefully someone else can help you with network manager - otherwise I'd advise disabling all networking services, then trying manual connection steps. If they work, you know the card works, then it's just a matter of configuring Network Manager again if that's what you want to use.

Thank for your help and sorry for the delay.
I know it's strange for me too, but I can't neither uninstalled wpa_supplicant (:: networkmanager : need wpa_supplicant) nor stop it with systemd, he is always there.
Yes, I did, I put my network name and my password into Network Manager.
Which is weird, I had nothing to do with my previous wifi card, it worked out of the box with networkmanager, this new card (ath9k) should work to without tweaks, but it's not...

So, I changed my wifi password removing all no ASCII characters, and now, it works Oo...
Thanks anyway for your help
