I wonder if there is a way to display comment for an AUR build in the console. I do not like an idea to launch my browser every time I am going to install an AUR package. Something like "yaourt --comments <package>".
Does anybody know about such tool?

Unless something has changed or is broken:
AURCOMMENT=5
Show X last comments for packages built from AUR Unsupported. 0 to disable comments display, default to 5.

Thanks fukawi2, but this is not what I was looking for. In order to read the comments in the way you've described, I need to invoke installation (if I understand properly): yaourt -Si <package>.
I am rather looking for something to read info, comments, etc. without need of invoking install process.

surfraw aur $package

jasonwryan, it would be so nice if it works...
surfraw aur aur/veracrypt
/usr/bin/surfraw: line 487: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?O=0&L=0&detail=1&C=0&K=aur%2Fveracrypt&SeB=nd&SB=n&SO=a&PP=30&do_Search=Go&setlang=en: No such file or directory

Works fine for me, exactly as I typed it...
# edit: ie., to be clear, you enter the package name, not aur/$packagename

I wish it did :-(
surfraw aur veracrypt

Please paste your surfraw conf and the output of `echo $BROWSER`.

I do not have config for surfraw. Should I?
$BROWSER = /usr/bin/chromium

Well, it should open $BROWSER, but something in your ENV is broken.
Test by creating a minimal config in ~/.config/surfraw/conf with this in it (swap w3m for your text browser of choice):
SURFRAW_text_browser=/usr/bin/w3m
SURFRAW_graphical_browser=/usr/bin/chromium
# edit: read the default conf in /etc/xdg/surfraw and you'll see why it is choking; forgot that it was set for non-Archers...

Fixed by explicitly calling a browser
surfraw -browser=/usr/bin/links aur veracrypt
Works, but far from ideal solution...

Create a config file and you are done...

There is also a package called aur-comment-fetcher-git in the AUR that extracts the comments.

progandy, this is exactly what I need! I have already started to write my own scraper in python, but someone did it already. Thank you very much.
