Potentially cool new FS for Linux

Who wants to bet this will get into the Linux kernel before Reiser4?

Re: Potentially cool new FS for Linux

Looks pretty swish, but there's a *lot* of vital stuff in the their to-do list that makes me think that it's going to be a little while before I'm willing to give this a try. I'd be very surprised if this gets into the kernel before Reiser4! Still, something to keep an eye on for the future.

Yeah, it's very much like the VMS filesystem.  Not a new idea, but a good one.

Re: Potentially cool new FS for Linux

Sounds very promising for me. I'll keep an eye on it, maybe try it on a test box wink

Re: Potentially cool new FS for Linux

I've put it in the AUR, as separate module and utilities packages. I've created and mounted a 2G nilfs partition on one of my boxes, for poking around in. If anything interesting arises, I'll post it.

I do have to kind of wonder if fragmentation will be an issue on log-structured filesystems...

I apologise for raising an old thread but Gullible Jones you were right. I am considering installing arch on nilfs2

It probably would've been better to email Gullible Jones, rather then bringing this thread up...
