Auto internet connection with netctl, "profile priority"

Hi,

I am running two netctl profiles on my laptop,

1. hotspot: for my home wifi connection
2. bsnl: for connecting to 3G network when not at home, with internal mobile-broadband card.

At present I have enabled hotspot profile (sudo netctl enable hotspot). When I am outside I manually start my second profile. Is it possible to switch automatically between profiles with netctl (like we do with android mobiles), or my current setup is best?

Hi there Docbroke - I'm using netctl-auto for switching between network profiles. Basically it switches to whatever profile I'm closest. Perhaps it can also work in your setting, since your home hotspot would be available when outside home.

You probably know this already, but you can create profiles that are managed by netctl-auto or netctl using wifi-menu.

sudo wifi-menu -o

I hope that helps in some way.

Netctl-auto works with wifi networks only, I need to switch between wifi and mobile broadband.
