Installig Archlinux - PCE AC-98 Wont Work!!!

Hello,

I need help detecting the AC-98 card at the time of installation. I am booting off of a USB to install.

iw dev >

phy#0 - interface wlp8s0
ifindex 3
wdev 0x1
type managed

lspci -k >

Network controller: Broadcom BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless adapter (rev 03)
Subsystem: ASUSTek computer inc device 85fd
kernel driver in use: bcma-pci-bridge
kernel modules: bcma

Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless network adapter (rev 01)
Subsystem: ASUStek computer inc device 850d
Kernel driver in use: ath9k
Kernel modules ath9k

a check of netctl status suggest its unable to authenticate with the WPA and it failed however the network is open without any password.

Attempted to connect to the network (using ath9k onboard wifi) with no password (fails wpa authentication somehow), with a password, using an example config and wpa_passphrase, using wpa_supplicant with an example.config and wpa_cli. Nothing works.

Edited:

Sounds like I need to install the broadcom driver offline, possibly need to install base-devel, linux-headers and one of the aur packages. How do I go about doing this from an offline state before the installation? Either broadcom-wl or b43-firmware

I don't get it. Apparently you got two wifi adapters and they are using a proper driver? Although it seems that iw can only find one.

@tom.ty89

So yes, the motherboard wifi isnt working properly. The PCI-E Wifi card isnt being detected. The motherboard card only picks up 1 of 20 networks, and attempts a WPA authentication even though there is no password. When I put a password on the network and try and login it still fails to authenticate. I have also tried using wpa_passphrase and creating the netctl from the example config and still doesn't work.

How can I detect the PCI-E Card aka Asus AC98 and use it during the archlinux install? It would be the Broadcom AC card.

I know things can be frustrating, but a more descriptive title (eg, not "won't work!!!") for your thread is likely to garner more interest (edit your original post and you can change the title)

Re: Installig Archlinux - PCE AC-98 Wont Work!!!

I've got a BCM4360 and was able to get internet for installation by borrowing my partner's Android and using USB tethering; I'm currently getting internet through either my iPhone or a USB wifi adapter that I borrowed while I figure out how in the hell I can get my built-in card to work. I got instructions for how to tether from the installation section of this set of instructions: http://www.frankshin.com/macbook-air-62 … archlinux/
