Hi,
Ran into a bit of an issue with Libreoffice-fresh (current version 5.0.4-3) and it is an interesting one.
Simply the menus are not seem to render properly, anyone has an idea for this? Maybe has something to do with the system font settings? Or missing QT or maybe java?
(DE: Gnome, WM: Gnome Shell)

Thanks in advance for your help and inputs!

What gtk theme are you using? Try with the default gnome theme (Adwaita).
Libreoffice doesn't use QT or Java for the UI, so it shouldn't be related.

Spot on @The Loko!
Been using Numix theme seems it not really liked it, switching back to the default Adwaita did the magic, but the second problem with the pop-up/confirmation window still exists. Had a wild though that maybe the different font settings caused it to behave as such, but that not seems to be the case. Reset my Gnome settings to default, but still have this little glitch.
For the fun of it I tried to select the message and suddenly the readable text appeared... not sure, but it is a good enough solution for me at the moment. Also worth to mention that seen this only in Calc. Might file a bug report on this?
Anyhow thanks for your help mate, appreciate it!

This isn't a gnome only issue as I'm experiencing the same thing in both gnome and i3 wm (see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=208250). I think I've also seen it in dialogs from other applications (print dialog maybe).
I didn't know about the workaround of selecting the text, thanks!
Cheers,

This turned out to be a (lack of) graphics driver problem for me. After installing the appropriate driver (I have Intel i915 graphics, so xf86-video-intel in my case), the issue appears to be resolved.

Pff can't be serious.... was running Arch in the last year on my laptop without the vga driver. This actually solves the original problem as well, no more issues with other GTK themes. And now I'm going to pretend that this never happened lol
Thanks for sharing @akgrant0710!

Also have the font glitch in LibreOffice and I do not seem to have a problem with drivers. Running xf86-video-ati already and use the mesa drivers.
This seems to be LibreOffice bug and is "exclusive to 5.1 branch".
