Hi everybody,
This is my first post, I am relatively new in linux word, sorry if a don't give the necessary informations about my problem.
After system update (linux 4.5, gnome 3.20.1, so many new thing), my Probook (6450b) does not play any sound on displayport, the gnome sound output chooser does not contains the HDMI/displayport option anymore . (it worked before and still works in windows 10, so not hardware or cable failure).
aplay output
aplay -l

I can play sound through the display port with the following commands:

aplay -D plughw:0,8 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav

dmesg output is the following:

But I can not see the HDMI sound option in Gnome sound outputs. What should I modify or clean to work it again?
Thank you, if you can help me.

Update:
I installed pavucontrol, and if i choose the Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output (unplugged) profile, the sound works. So the problem is that pulseaudio don't detect the displayport cabel or don't detect the intel hdmi sound audio device. I don't know yet how can I solve the problem, but its pulseaudio related, or the new 4.5 kernel's intel driver don't detect it correctly.

I can confirm this. I am experiencing this same issue connecting to my TV trhough an HDMI cable connected to Displayport. I don't know if this is related, but I also have a CEC adapter from pulse eight [0] and the TV wont be recognized if I try to use it. Sometimes I can get the image passed trough, but not the sound, and sometimes there is nothing.

With Linux 4.5.4-1-ARCH and Gnome 3.20.2 the problem is solved.
