[FIXED]linux-4.6.1-2 Broken Kernel .Needs user intervention.

The last subject was marked as solved by the OP. However Ive already seen atleast 10 people affected by this kernel update in here and in the bug tracker.
I believe many arch users will be affected by this update . And this requires a warning as it is bothersome for users to deal with this without previous notice.

To summarize what Ive understood so far, its related to a recent change in crypto handling as a user indicated https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commi … c994f5cf56
And what solved it was an edit to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf

MODULES="crc32 libcrc32c crc32c_generic crc32c-intel crc32-pclmul"

I just rolled back to an old kernel to start my system again and I definitely dont have time to test these changes now. Also not any user could know if these changes apply to him or not so maybe this should be dealt with distro wise atleast with a warning message.

I have linux-4.6.1-2 installed and f2fs on root/ and this works for me:

MODULES="crc32_generic crc32c-intel"

Re: [FIXED]linux-4.6.1-2 Broken Kernel .Needs user intervention.

The upgrade affects those who use F2FS for the root directory. People using an unpopular filesystem for the root directory lend themselves to trouble consciously and voluntarily, like me, and are prepared for tinkering. I added the comment for fresh F2FS users to the wiki page. But existing users already hit it. Upgrade to a specific version of the kernel comes once in a lifetime.

You seem to be mistaken, I use ext4 and this still occurs with me possibly for  different reason then.

So you see "F2FS: Cannot load crc32 driver" at boot?
