but when creating a new network connection using nm-applet it doesn't show my device.There is a this led on the modem which usually changes color from red to green on connecting  to a carrier but in my case it remains red.After going through https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/USB_3G_Modem I tried wvdial option with this config

[dialer defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
 Baud = 460800
 Init2 = ATZ
 Init3 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
 ISDN = 0
 Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone = *99#
 Username = ;
 Password = ;
 New PPPD = yes
Stupid Mode = yes

when I run wvdial it returns the following

--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.61
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT*99#
--> Waiting for carrier.
~[7f]}#@!}!}!} }2}"}&} }*} } }#}$@#}'}"}(}"U[03]~~[7f]}#@!}!}!} }2}"}&} }*} } }#}$@#}'}"}(}"U[03]~~[7f]}#@!}!}!} }2}"}&} }*} } }#}$@#}'}"}(}"U[03]~~[7f]}#@!}!}!} }2}"}&} }*} } }#}$@#}'}"}(}"U[03]

the last line keeps on going but when I abort this using ctrl+c the led in the modem turns green just for a few seconds.
Any help will be appreciated.
