for some reason I am unable to change the state of wlp3s0b1 from DOWN to up.

The wireless button on the laptop is white, which tells me the wireless is turned on.

I'm not sure where to look to get this working.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanx!!

Does the card need firmware? Do you have that firmware? Any errors or warning on dmesg? Are there any network managers on the system fighting for control of the card? What does 'rfkill list all' say?

You have been here long enough to know you have to make some effort and provide as much relevant information as possible, playing a twenty questions game is a waste of everyone's time.

Re: [SOLVED] can't UP broadcom wlp3s0b1

apparently, the issue was a couple fold.

With wifi-menu I noticed the card was UP for a blank SSID

I downed the card, created a netctl profiles with DHCP and then UP'ed the card and started the profile. the card was now up and had an IP address which was verified with ip addr. however, nothing would ping, even by IP. I stopped the profile, switched the wireless profile from DHCP to static, and restarted it. Everything worked. Not sure as it may be my router, but then, my wired was getting a DHCP lease, even though dhcpd is not started. which is weird.

anyway, It seems to be working well enough. I do want to force wired connection when plugged in to wired, and then when unplugged switch to wifi.

solving topic.
