gnome-session segfaults upon launching GDM

I just turned on and updated my Arch Linux system for the first time in a handful of months, it was running kernel 4.4 to give you an idea of the last time it was updated. The update had 857 packages. Anyways, now after booting, when the system launches GDM (I use GDM+Cinnamon), I just get a blank screen. If I move over to a terminal and look at the dmesg output, I see this at the end:

gnome-session-f[824]: segfault at 0 ip 00007fa6768c61e9 sp 00007ffd360ba3e0 error 4 in libgtk-3.so.0.2200.1[7fa6765e4000+6f2000]

Any ideas? I have tried reinstalling gnome-session, gtk3, GDM, all with no results. System is using proprietary NVIDIA driver. Let me know if you need more information.

Re: gnome-session segfaults upon launching GDM

I get the exact segfault with same addresses. My situation is pretty reproducable. I start X from a rc.local script and then also start gnome-session for the default user. I am able to do the exact same thing after the system is fully started and I've logged into root with a console. With this route no segfault results. Only when trying to start gnome-session manually on boot.

Re: gnome-session segfaults upon launching GDM

I have the same issue.
Did you find any fix? Did you report an issue somewhere I can jump in?

Re: gnome-session segfaults upon launching GDM

Try with downgrading readline and dependencies.

Re: gnome-session segfaults upon launching GDM

do NOT downgrade readline, that's a good way to screw up your whole system.

For the record https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=218168
Mutter has been upgraded yesterday, and this fixed the issue for me.
