[Solved] Wireless deauthentication repeats using vt6656

I've just attached a USB wireless dongle which uses the vt6656 module driver. The dongle has been sitting unused for years. All fine with network setup but the system repeatedly deauthenticates. This is not a router fault as another device in exactly the same location works fine. I do not have another USB dongle to check - that is probably what I should do as I suspect a possible hardware fault here but am posting this to just double check that there is nothing else I should be looking at.

It appears to deauthenticate on average every 60-66 seconds. Would this be some sort of faulty power saving feature maybe??

EDIT: I'm marking this solved. A bit more research tended to suggest it would in fact be a power_saving issue with that chipset. So the command "iw dev devicename set power_save off" seems to have done the trick.

Philosophy is looking for a black cat in a dark room. Metaphysics is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there. Religion is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there and shouting "I found it!". Science is looking for a black cat in a dark room with a flashlight.
