My headless server uses a script to check the presence of other machines on my home network every 5 minutes. I programmed that script using local hostnames instead of IPs due to the presence of DHCP.
I configured my headless server (arch powered) to use avahi as documented on the arch wiki.
Avahi resolves correctly the hostnames when it's started but, after a while, avahi doesn't resolve them any more. The only way to get it working is by restarting it, like an auto-restart every 5 minutes.
The problem is not uncommon on the internet, but I didn't find a solution yet.
Logs seem ok.
Any ideas?

I seem to have a similar problem on our network, with one laptop especially badly affected.
Haven't managed to pin down what's happening.
But, in the immortal phrase ... "something must have changed"
