I would like to install the Canon (debian) driver for my MG5250 printer.
During installation I have downloadeded the package canon-pixma-mg5500-complete from AUR.
During makepkg -si I receive messages about missing dependencies.
These dependencies also need to be coming from AUR.
When downloading lib32-popt, I receive an empty package (no PKGBUILD)
I downloaded the tar file https://www.archlinux.org/packages/mult … ib32-popt/ from the mirror link on the right side of the screen.
If I untar it (tar -xf {package} -C / the makepkg for the canon print driver installation still reports that lib32-popt is missing.
Now I'm stuck and don't know how to solve this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to expand my knowledge of working with Arch Linux on my laptop (currently I'm a Debian and Linux Mint user).

of course you have to install the aur dependencies up-front. in case of lib32-popt you have to enable multilib repository in pacman.conf.

Thx hcjl. Your answer helped me to solve my problem and helped me to get a lot wiser on AUR and pacman
After enabling multilib repository and a lot of manual rework of correcting my hand made installation mistakes, I've managed to install the necessary dependencies and finally installed my printerdriver. Now testing if the printer will work.
Can confirm that printing and scanning is working!!! Thx again.
