HDMI audio not working

Hi there. As title says, I can't get working HDMI audio.

I've been doing some research:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=132641
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=137352
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=133222
(and wiki)

And i can't get through this.

What I have:

aplay -D plughw: ... does not work on any of the HDMI entries (just in card 0, device 0). it shows no errors, simply it does not make any sound. It works good on Windows.
I have pulseaudio.

I don't know any more info to share. Please ask if you need something.

Thank you in advance!

Re: HDMI audio not working

These devices are mutually exclusive, if anything is playing back at the same time they won't work. If you are using pulseaudio you should make sure that the setup there is correct. Have you tried switching on pulse's side in pavucontrol? What are the outputs of

pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks

Re: HDMI audio not working

Thank you for answer.
Yes, I tried to switch the device on pavucontrol. Every HDMI device on pavucontrol shows as "unavailable"

that the setup there is correct.

What do you mean with this? I tried to desactivate the sound from speakers, and put it on on HDMI. But it does not work.
I pavucontrol I tried every posible config (or I think so..)

Re: HDMI audio not working

Please don't bump your post like that. I'm usually pretty good on following up in support threads, but had a busy few days.

It's strange that apparently pulse does not detect any active HDMI connection, but maybe we can just force it. Do any of

pacmd set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_00_03.0 output:hdmi-stereo #and hdmi-stereo-extra1 and so fort

lead to working sound output? If you get a sink with that switch, make sure you move the application you are playing sound in to the HDMI sink.

If not, what is the output of

dmesg | grep -iE 'snd|hda|hdmi'

Sorry for that. As it is admitted in some forums, I believe it would be rigth. My bad.
And don't worry by time. It wasn't my intention to hurry up. I just believed you couldn't help me anymore, that's why it put the topic on top again, so one else could find it.

It didn't work on any of them. I made sure of putting the output of the application to HDMI.
