[SOLVED] PGPME error installing pacstrap

Hi all,

I'm installing arch on a new system.

Partitioned and formatted drive as per installation instructions.

mounted drives.

running pacstrap /mnt base

get
error:GPGME error: No Data
etc

Commented out first few servers in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

Still getting same error.

Any ideas gratefully accepted!

Do you have an actual, functional internet connection on the system?

I'm not talking about pinging, that doesn't tell you anything useful.

Re: [SOLVED] PGPME error installing pacstrap

at one stage when there was no connection, (ethernet cable cam out) I got "server unreachable" errors.

What's a better way than pinging to find out something useful on command line?

The install ISO has a CLI browser on it (elinks, I think?), that would be the simplest way to check

Re: [SOLVED] PGPME error installing pacstrap

bingo, thanks!
elinks wouldn't connect to any site, despite the ping to the same site being ok!

So, thanks, not only did you solve my issue you introduced me to the vagaries of pinging and the existence of elinks!
