I have Plasma 5.11.4 and today i installed Chrome 63. Every launch Chrome asks for "set as default" and I agree, but Chrome continue to ask.
What I did:
1. delete both `~/.config/mimeapps.list` and `~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list`
2. check files `/etc/xdg/mimeapps.list`, `/usr/local/share/applications/mimeapps.list` and `/usr/share/applications/mimeapps.list`. They all are empty.
Then I launch Chrome, it asks me, and I agree. Then I check files listed before and notice that `~/.config/mimeapps.list` changed, Chrome creates it with content:
[Default Applications]
text/html=kfmclient_html.desktopIt is very strange, because kfmclient_html.desktop is konqueror file (I have also konqueror installed), and Chrome file is google-chrome.desktop. I manually chnage kfmclient_html.desktop to google-chrome.desktop, but at next Chrome launch, after I agree with "set as default" Chrome again rewrites `~/.config/mimeapps.list` with kfmclient_html.desktop. Could you say please what is the right way to set Chrome as default?

I am not a KDE user myself, but have you tried this?

Yes, I tried this, but this didn't work. However if also change file associations for `text/html` and `application/xhtml+xml` as described here then all works. Thank you.
