Hi Folks
Not been an arch user for quite some time, but since blowing up the cpu on my last laptop and purchasing a Dell XPS 13 9360 thought i'd venture back and so far what a combo.
However i'm trying to update the firmware by using fwupd and im getting errors.
fwupdmgr get-devices gives this output

I had the same issue getting my XPS 9370 up and running.
Try editing /etc/fwupd/uefi.conf as such:
[uefi]
# For fwupdate 10+ allow overriding
# the compiled EFI system partition path
OverrideESPMountPoint=/boot

Hi, i also have some firmware related issues.
First this is what fwupdmgr get-devices outputs ie no info on AMT and Thunderbolt.

and secondly im having trouble updating the firmware from 2.6.2 to 2.7.1. I had it working on Debian but now nothing happens during reboot (no installation phase). the relevant bios/uefi settings are still the same so that side should be correct.
sudo fwupdmgr update:
Downloading 0.2.7.1 for XPS 13 9360 System Firmware...

An update requires a reboot to complete. Restart now? [Y|n]:
i have tried changing the /etc/fwupd/uefi.conf to this:
[uefi]
# For fwupdate 10+ allow overriding
# the compiled EFI system partition path
OverrideESPMountPoint=/boot/efi/
This is my fstab:
UUID=E180-9858 /boot/efi vfat defaults,noatime 0 2
zgrep CONFIG_EFI /proc/config.gz givs this output:
CONFIG_EFI_PARTITION=y
CONFIG_EFI=y
CONFIG_EFI_STUB=y
CONFIG_EFI_MIXED=y
# CONFIG_EFI_VARS is not set
CONFIG_EFI_ESRT=y
CONFIG_EFI_RUNTIME_MAP=y
# CONFIG_EFI_FAKE_MEMMAP is not set
CONFIG_EFI_RUNTIME_WRAPPERS=y
CONFIG_EFI_CAPSULE_LOADER=m
# CONFIG_EFI_TEST is not set
CONFIG_EFI_DEV_PATH_PARSER=y
CONFIG_EFIVAR_FS=y
# CONFIG_EFI_PGT_DUMP is not set
thanks in advance

Just in case some don't know - you can update the bios on these by simply downloading the .exe from Dell to a fat32 usb drive, rebooting, and choosing the bios update option from your boot options. It will then have a basic GUI that allows you to select the bios update and proceed.
TMK you can't update the Thunderbolt controller firmware except via booting into a Windows install (at least that's the case with the Precision 5510).
