Weird pulseaudio naming

I recently installed Arch Linux on a desktop computer and moved my laptops home directory over to it. Everything works fine and my local configs are transferred properly.

However pulseaudio refuses to name the playing programs accordingly. Where i once saw "firefox-developer-edition" and "spotify" i now only see AudioIPC Server. This is true both in 'pavucontrol' and in 'pactl list-clients' however i can see some clients have a proper name(despite not showing up in pavucontrol)

The environment should be exactly the same, only the hardware changed from laptop to desktop. What went wrong?

Re: Weird pulseaudio naming

I'm pretty sure firefox never had named streams for me.

However you might want to reset pulseaudio configuration since the identifiers it has cached are likely to be incorrect. It would also help to post the output of the commands you mention, so that other people can have the same picture as you do.

Re: Weird pulseaudio naming

For me firefox playing sound from a youtube video says "Firefox: AudioStream" in pavucontrol, while chromium says "Chromium: Playback". I have never noticed weird names but I do confirm that _some_ programs do show up with more information, such as the track name.

Re: Weird pulseaudio naming

With firefox  59.0, I got an empty stream name ( " : AudioStream"). I don't know if that was a bug in firefox or because I updated the firefox package to 59.0.1 without restarting it. Now after a restart of firefox, the name is back ("Firefox : AudioStream")
