Closest recently related thread I could find was https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=225674 but witih a different wireless card.

I gather based on lscpi that the error message relates to my Intel Wireless 7265 device. Unlikely other examples I've found online, my wireless seems to work just fine (no slowdowns or failures). The error message is disconcerting though.

My system is a Kaby Lake R laptop, using network-manager for wireless connectivity (which is referenced in other reports of this error, but I slightly discount that as NM is basically default for ubuntu and its derivatives). microcode updates are installed and loaded properly via grub.

Re: pcieport 0000:00:1c.5: PCIe Bus Error

In order to come from your wireless device, the wireless would need to be connected to the PCI Express Root Port #6  at 00:1c.5 .

please post lspci and lspci -t so we can verify what is connected to that port.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Does adding

pcie_aspm=off

to your boot parameters help?

Yes, actually. So power management is bugged on this chip?

Or the kernel implementation of ASPM. I am not really sure which. I use that parameter in my 1st-gen Ryzen box.
