I installed alsa-utils a while ago, but I can't locate alsad! I even re-pacman'd alsa-utils, updated the database, and to my surprise ... nothing. Has it been outdated or something?
Thanks!

I've never heard of alsad. Why do you need a daemon running to access sound devices? Do you, perhaps, mean /etc/rc.d/alsa ?

Interesting ... I used it before with no probelms. I got the idea from this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=20692

That's actually a typo (I'm sure Penguin won't mind me pointing that out).
Google has some references to alsad, but AFAIK it's never been part of the Arch alsa setup.

Bizzare ... I was using it before I reinstalled from filesystem and partition issues.
Maybe I'm thinking of something else ... is the daemon called alsa? I'm at work right now and can't check, ha.

perhaps you were thinking of (as mentioned) /etc/rc.d/alsa, "alsa" can be added to DAEMONS array in rc.conf to restore volumes at boot...
