amixer invalid commands

I cannot seem to be able to change the volume using my fn keys, so I read I could bind amixer command to them.

This is the output of amixer scontrols:

$ amixer scontrols
Simple mixer control 'IEC958',0
Simple mixer control 'IEC958',1
Simple mixer control 'IEC958',2
Simple mixer control 'IEC958',3
Simple mixer control 'IEC958',4

As you can see, I do not have a Master mixer.
This is what happens when I try to change volume:

$ amixer set IEC958 5%+
amixer: Invalid command!

Same with sudo.
I googled around and can't seem to find a good reason for this. Pulseaudio is not installd btw.

Thanks smile

Re: amixer invalid commands

Are you sure that that's the correct card? This looks like a graphics/HDMI card. These are digital and do not have a controllable volume by default. Either adjust on the monitor/the receiving device or set up ALSA's softvol plugin.

Weird, my speakers are connected via AUX.
