[Solved] Unable to connect to wireless network

Today after running Arch Linux on my laptop I found it impossible to connect to internet. Yesterday everything was working fine. I have dual boot and on Windows connection to the internet works fine.

I'm connecting to one of available wireless networks using netctl-auto service. Network that I have available today is named 'home'. After the boot I also tried connecting to it using netctl command (instead of netctl-auto service), but it also failed. In boot logs I see some errors from wpa_supplicant, which I suspect is the source of the problem.

Will be glad for any help.

$ journalctl -b

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to wireless network

You can access more debugging information with `journalctl _PID=1764`

Connecting manually means just that, not using a tool like netctl. See the wiki.

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to wireless network

Ensure that it still is (because windows re-activates it with updates) and if so, attempt a manual connection, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … figuration

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to wireless network

Please replace the oversize image w/ a link and as suggested attempt a manul connection.
Ensure you stopped all network managing services before.

Sorry for posting the image incorrectly.

I tried connecting manually, but failed quickly at bringing the wireless interface up.

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to wireless network

Well, yeah - check the output of rfkill.
If it's soft-blocked, unblock it. For hard blocks, there's probably some Fn-key or HW-switch to toggle it.

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to wireless network

rfkill said it was blocked on software level, unblocked on hardware level. Running sudo rfkill unblock wlan solved it. Now internet works fine, even when restarted. Thanks a lot for your help seth and jasonwryan.

I only wonder why wlan interface was blocked in the first place. Do you have any idea how that could happen? I haven't done it manually by myself.

Re: [Solved] Unable to connect to wireless network

kernel module bug, bleed over from windows, you accidentally hit a switch, networkmanager felt like, … it's not possible to determine the cause of a single incident.

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
