[SOLVED] Mouse scroll wheel stopped working

When I updated to Gnome 3.32.0, the scroll wheel in my Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse stopped working.  Since I have more mice than I know what to do with, I switched to a Logitech M510 I had in a drawer.  Well, after my Arch update yesterday, the scroll wheel on my M510 stopped working.  So, I pulled out my Logitech M310, and it appears the scroll wheel is still working on that mouse.

I get the same behavior in both Wayland and X.org.  Is there a known issue with a recent update and mouse scroll wheels?

Re: [SOLVED] Mouse scroll wheel stopped working

So, after 30 minutes, for some unexplainable reason, the M510s scroll wheel just worked again.  The Sculpt Comfort Mouse still has no scroll wheel.  I'll mark this resolved and read the wiki for the MS Mouse.

Re: [SOLVED] Mouse scroll wheel stopped working

Combing through the Internet I discovered that the Sculpt Comfort Mouse and an infrared sensor that is extremely susceptible to dust and dirt.  I opened up the mouse by taking the top cover and the batteries out, then flipped it over and removed the screws under the mouse feet.

Even though the scroll wheel looked clean, it was absolutely filthy on the inside.  I cleaned it out and re-assembled the mouse and the scroll wheel worked again.
