boot drive suddenly write-protected

hello everyone,
im sitting in front of a problem it seems i cant solve myself.

this is the current situation:
i just tried to reboot my nas because it was behaving weirdly (kicked me out of ssh session/smb folder loading slow/other stuff). but now it doesnt even boot.
on boot it tells me that mounting wasnt possible because the drive is write-protected

the warning recommends to use fsck.ext4 -n /dev/sdb2 which i did, but no errors were found, alternativeliy it tells me to mount the drive with noload.
i grabbed a spare usbstick put arch on it, mounted the drive with noload and used arch-chroot to switch into the system.

but here im stuck now, i have absolutly no clue how to progress further, how would i make the drive writeable again?

i hope you can help me.

sincerely

Re: boot drive suddenly write-protected

Thanks - that's better than nothing.  I don't think there is a way to get that content as text other than transcribing it manually which is error prone.

So it does boot, it is just failing to mount the root partition.  Can you describe your partitioning scheme and (using the bootable usb) post the fstab from the installed system.

EDIT: oops, yes, the bootloader is more relevant here than the fstab.  But the later will still have some useful info.

Re: boot drive suddenly write-protected

Also the config for the bootloader you are using and the output of the following

# blkid
# parted -l

Re: boot drive suddenly write-protected

fstab
blkid + parted(since i didnt have parted installed on the system and couldnt install because read-only parted executed from recovery-usb)

the partitionscheme isnt fancy, as you can see in fstab i only have root and boot.

i use efiboot to boot from uefi directly into the system.

You can use eg. grml to inspect the system.

Re: boot drive suddenly write-protected

smartctl says health is OK, but for some reason the tests are getting "aborted" instantly

Re: boot drive suddenly write-protected

What is the output from smartctl?  See the tip box from List_of_applications#Pastebin_clients to post the text from the boot media.
Also the output of dmesg.
