anonymous login failed [solved]

pacman -Syu gives...

error: anonymous login failed
Control socket read failed: Success

I tried commenting out the nethat line in /etc/pacman.d/* and rebooting but still get the same error.

Re: anonymous login failed [solved]

It is not pacman in the repository server you are connecting to. Change your server in the corresponding section say: /etc/pacman.d/community or whatever fails.

You probably forgot to comment the nethat server in one of the files in /etc/pacman.d/

BTW, the server seems to be working now but it was very slow: 3 kB/s instead of my usual 500 kB/s

So this is a server issue?

Re: anonymous login failed [solved]

Change the server order in  /etc/pacman.d/extra. Pacman use the first one on the list so either comment out the first one or or move the server you want to use above it.

Re: anonymous login failed [solved]

I haven't had this problem since I got back to using Arch Linux and installed the 2007.05 iso - seems someone fixed it along the way smile
