pacman -Syu gives...
error: anonymous login failed
Control socket read failed: Success
I tried commenting out the nethat line in /etc/pacman.d/* and rebooting but still get the same error.

I'm getting the same error - have you had any luck fixing it?

no...still no luck...anyone know how to fix this??

It is not pacman in the repository server you are connecting to. Change your server in the corresponding section say: /etc/pacman.d/community or whatever fails.

wait. I'm confused. what do I need to change?

You probably forgot to comment the nethat server in one of the files in /etc/pacman.d/
BTW, the server seems to be working now but it was very slow: 3 kB/s instead of my usual 500 kB/s

So this is a server issue?

iam having the same problem with the extra server and my pacman.conf file uses this line /etc/pacman.d/extra how can that be wrong ? please help me ..

Change the server order in /etc/pacman.d/extra. Pacman use the first one on the list so either comment out the first one or or move the server you want to use above it.

I haven't had this problem since I got back to using Arch Linux and installed the 2007.05 iso - seems someone fixed it along the way
