I'm seeing two versions of errors both of the flavor in thread title on the forums today. I've seen these before, but it's only ever been a transient issue. But this has been consistent for at least the past 4-5 hours.
Attempting to follow the Index or search links results in the following error screen within the browser:
An error was encountered
Error: Unable to fetch category/forum list.
While any attempt to follow the posted link gives the following:
An error was encountered
Error: Unable to fetch topic list.
Other links including the New, Active, and Unanswered links work fine.
To rule out a potential local network issue, I tried proxying through a VPS on the other side of the country - the same pattern of working and non-working links persisted. Yet the forums have been active and I've not seen other reports of this here.
So my first question is whether I am just the first to report something several of us are seeing, or is this more likely just at my end? If the latter, why might the proxy give the same result, and what other diagnostics can I try?

Seems to be an issue with the database; similar thing is happening with the AUR: “Error retrieving package list.”
I've pinged the ops team.

Yup, thanks to you and Phil, all is again well in my preferred corner of the interwebs.

My contribution was breaking it: all those dustbinned threads filled up the database

Indeed a quick DELETE FROM dustbin WHERE user_id = 'jasonwryan'; returned several GB of disk space back
