Can't mount USB Stick or SD-Card

I can not mount USB-Stick or SD-Card on my arch installation.

I use xfce. If I click in thunar on the SD-card entry (32GB Card), I only got a message:

Error mounting /dev/sdb1 at /run/media..... : Unknown error when mounting /dev/sdb1
Same is for USB-Sticks, or USB-HDD.

If I try to mount the device on CLI (e.g. entering: sudo mount -o rw,noauto,async,user,umask=1000 /dev/sdb1 /mnt/sdcard/), the bash come back to input-cursor (means no additional output or error-message).
Buf if I do an ls in /mnt/sdcard, the card is not mounted. Even not listet in the output of "mount"

fdisk -l result in :

The SD-Card (and other USB-HDD) working well on other PC (also Linux-PC).

Any Idea, how to fix this issue?

Also elaborate on the relation to the similar problem you had on Antergos 18 months ago. Same system and/or usb device?

The installed kernel matches the running one, but the fat modules aren't loaded.
Can you "sudo modprobe vfat"? Does "lsmod" list it afterwards?

What file system do you want to mount from this partition /dev/sdc1?
Do you have a FAT file system on your hard drive?
You did not specify when mounting.

umask=1000

What is the value of the mask? Is not correct.

While there's a chance for having confused the umask w/ the uid, "1000" equals "000" (only the actual permission bits are considered) ie. party mode, afaics not an uncommon mode w/ fat systems.

Yes, the thread is named for sd-card, but it's pretty the same at least. Both have same behavior. And ATM I didn't have an sd-card here.

It would still be "uid=1000" (not sure whether mount.vfat accepts symbolic UIDs), anyway:
After attempting to mount the disk from the CLI ("sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sdc1 /mnt/hdd"), what's the output of "mount"?
What happens if you try to mount into a non-empty directory?

sudo touch /mnt/hdd/dummy
sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sdc1 /mnt/hdd

Also I'm not quite sure about the "if we fix it for the hdd, it's also fixed for the sd-card" assertion.
Given that this is a notebook and because of the flicker, the HDD might be underpowered or subject to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Po … utosuspend (the ultimate cause being some zealous power management)

Looks like this HDD might be Bus powered via USB 3.0 cable only since the disk requires 1A to spin-up.

@both: The HDD worked fine some time ago on the same laptop (but I think it was another distribution of Linux). It's even the same thing, if I plug-in an USB-Stick.
But anyway, to be sure, I post the output of your requested Information this evening.

so creating an empty file in /mnt/hdd and executing the mount-command result in "nothing". Means:Nothing is mounted, dummy-file is still visible there.

@sabroad: i also can continue with the sdcard, where powered hub isn't needed. Like described before, exact same behavior like on hdd is on sdcard.
In my opinion it doesn't depend at the device or card, but some strange stuff in the OS happend, which prevent mounting external devices
