Libvirt MacVTap networking now broken unless allmulticast manually set

MacVTap networking, which previously just a few weeks ago worked fine, suddenly longer does unless I manually set allmulticast on the macvtap interface with:

ip link set macvtap0 allmulticast on

This (or setting it to promiscuous) is the only way I've been able to make it work, allmulticast is not normally set on a libvirt macvtap interface (manually or automatically), so I'm not sure why it's now suddenly required.

This was also tested on a fresh arch install with default configuration and nothing but libvirt + virt-manager + qemu installed, with the same results.
