PrimaryGPU not working after Nvidia 440.59

Hi, been off of linux for quite some time. Got everything running a month ago and everything has been working fine. I use Option "PrimaryGPU" "yes" to make the nvidia 1070 card to be my primary instead of the intel integrated one. Everything was going fine, with 440.44 then it upgraded to 440.48 everything worked but with 440.59 it only uses my intel graphics it does not use Nvidia, not with PRIME not with Optimus. So I'm out of things to do, can you guys help me troubleshoot, been so long off linux I forgot a lot of things.

Thanks in advance

Re: PrimaryGPU not working after Nvidia 440.59

Post your xorg.log and the xorg config where you've added PrimaryGPU. PrimaryGPU is primarily a xorg option that doesn't relate to your actual driver so it's unlikely that that specific update broke this, unless you've added that directive to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-nvidia-drm-outputclass.conf which predictably gets overwritten on nvidia-utils updates, you should put a file containing the PrimaryGPU option into /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d instead.

Re: PrimaryGPU not working after Nvidia 440.59

Please post complete logs, there's nothing of relevance failing here and we loose context.

FWIW why do you have nvidia-prime installed? That logically directly conflicts with the desire to set PrimaryGPU (and that package was the reason PrimaryGPU was removed from the package provided config in the first place)

Re: PrimaryGPU not working after Nvidia 440.59

Hmm nothing obviously going wrong here,

pacman -Qkk nvidia-utils
ls -l /etc/X11/ /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d

Does the intel driver have any intentional relevance to you? You could remove it and/or opt for a more explicit configuration by following https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … phics_only

Thanks a lot, I'm still trying to find out whats wrong on my own and have come up with nothing, everything was working with 440.44 and 440.48 it was just with 440.59 that without changing anything it does not want to use my nvidia card.

Re: PrimaryGPU not working after Nvidia 440.59

Why do you replicate all of these in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d ? Why is there still a 20-nvidia-prime config and which kinds of configurations does it set?  The only file that should be in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d is 10-nvidia-drm-outputclass.conf with the content you posted earlier and 20-nvidia-prime.conf should not exist at either location.

If PrimaryGPU in general was a problem with this driver, we  would see a similar fallout like in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=251846 we don't so this seems isolated to your system and there are more than a few pointers to misconfiguration.

FWIW general sanity checks

glxinfo -B
printenv
xrandr -q
xrandr --listproviders
