network audio device

Is there some way to setup a network audio device? My main workstation is a laptop. When I am at my house I would like to use the speakers that are attached to my linux server. I use mpd for my music library, but I would like to also use something that can handle all audio appications (a network audio device).

Is there any way to do this?
