VPN client cannot set system DNS, connection fail

My VPN client, installed through the AUR, has begun failing to connect after updating.  I'm running it on top of systemd-networkd and systemd-resolved, on a computer with a wired connection.  I suspect the issue may be due to the recent systemd update, but that's speculation.

So, somewhere something changed that the VPN client no longer connects, instead giving the error message, "Failed to set systsem DNS server".  I'm curious if anyone knows what could be done about it.  Thanks.

I have confirmed the issue can be resolved by downgrading systemd.
