Problem removing lm_sensors

Hello, i installed lm_sensors with pacman and do the guide configuration of the arch wiki that generate the k10temp module, but after read about the hardware issues with this package, i decided to remove it but i can't do it because it breaks dependency required by mesa. I tried removing it with the unrecommended way ( pacman -Rdd ) and it breaks the system after reboot. Is there are any safe way of remove it ?

How does it break the system after reboot? Just curious - the uninstall might not be the cause of the breakdown.

Re: Problem removing lm_sensors

Welcome to the boards,

Please post actual outputs instead of paraphrasing the next time, you don't want to remove lm_sensors you just need to remove/disable the config it created to autoload the relevant hardware modules. So remove  /etc/conf.d/lm_sensors and

systemctl disable lm_sensors

that will return everything to the previous state. Maybe also blacklist k10temp to be extra sure.

@d_fajardo
I can entirely believe that. lm_sensors provides a shared library that all dependants of it can potentially fail on if they do not find it. But "system broke" is more likely to be "graphical session broke" and a multi-user.target still being usable.

Re-installing lm_sensors package fix the issue but k10temp it still loading after boot.

Ok , i will keep it in mind for the next post smile. There wasn't a config file of lm_sensors in /etc/conf.d/ but blacklisting k10temp definitely prevents the module from loading.

Thanks for replying
