[SOLVED] Avahi not working properly

Hi folks,

I'm trying to have Avahi working fine on my desktop and on my laptop, at home, with mDNS, so that I can have them talking to each other; The thing is, Avahi on my laptop seems to be working fine, but not on my desktop. From my desktop I can reach the laptop just fine, but can't do the reverse.

I noticed a bunch of errors in my journalctl, this is every line mentioning Avahi from my current boot:

Please notice that I'm using "home" as the local domain suffix, which is something I need. Both computers are configured the same way regarding Avahi ("avahi-daemon.conf" is exactly the same on them, and also is /etc/mdns.allow). The "hosts" line in nsswitch.conf is also the same for both.

Any idea what might be going on? Could this be something with my ethernet card, perhaps? (I'm using an off-board PCIe ethernet card.)

Cheers,
Diogo

Re: [SOLVED] Avahi not working properly

Found it! The problem was that I was using the default for wide-area, whilst I should actually disable it because I'm using a ".home" suffix. I have no idea, however, why it was working on my laptop but not on my desktop. Maybe it has any relationship to the fact that I'm using my laptop via wi-fi and my desktop via ethernet?

Anyway, setting this option makes it work just fine for me:

enable-wide-area=no

Cheers!
