Trouble connecting to Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 Dock

Hi,

I've got a Dell XPS 13 9350 which I try to connect to a Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 Dock.

What's working:
- USB
- Audio

What's not working:
- HDMI
- Ethernet

Untested (no equipment):
- Displayport

I'm running on the 5.9 kernel, compiled with `CONFIG_USB4=y` and `CONFIG_USB_RTL8152=y`.
This is what my `dmesg` looks like after connecting:

Re: Trouble connecting to Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 Dock

Are you using latest firmware for the Dell XPS 13 9350 ?

Does the dock have a model number , serial number or such and have you checked if lenovo has firmware updates for it ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Re: Trouble connecting to Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 Dock

I had exactly this just recently with a T490 - I had to use a different USB-C port. Does the XPS have multiple USB-C ports?

Unfortunately it has only one, which supports Thunderbolt 3.

I am thinking about getting this same laptop and dock to run Arch Linux. How is the dock working for you overall with the T490 and Arch? Does everything work? Did you have to do any special configuration (other than using the USB-C port that is labeled with the thunderbolt icon)?

I'm not actually using Arch on the T490, but it works beautifully with Ubuntu Mate - 34" ultrawide screen, USB mixer etc. Love it.

I run this exact setup on arch.

Everything works (HDMI, display port, ethernet) - except I need to connect the keyboard to the T490 :-(
EDIT - now the keyboard works with the dock too (Lenovo SK8823 keyboard).

5.10.75-1-lts

Hopefully some heat left in the body to bump here.
