[SOLVED] Java 8 SIGSEGV when running KVM over IP client

Resolution: Used java 8 from Oracle (AUR - jre8) and called the bundled javaws instead of icedtea-web.

Hello arch+java gurus,

I need a hand at investigating a java crash I'm getting trying to use a KVM over IP that I'm evaluating for a setup at home.

I have installed the JRE and JDK 8 (OpenJDK) OpenJFX 8 and icedtea-web. I ensured that archlinux-java status is pointing to version 8.

Here is the output of the typed command:

javaws ./Downloads/VkcStandAloneApplication.jnlp -verbose

and the crash dump log file: --> https://gist.github.com/cedrikl/a00a0dc … 413e42ae0f
And finally the gdb output of the core dump --> https://gist.github.com/cedrikl/a3fd585 … d6908b04ec

I can quickly try any of your suggestions on my local setup. (Lenovo C940 + Arch + I3WM)

Should you want to try it yourself and isolate a possible issue on my side you can try to launch the KVM yourself.

  1. https://kx4-101.demo.raritan.com/#/signin

  2. Click on learn more

  3. Click on the "Virtual KVM Client Standalone (VKCS)" url

  4. Username: webdemo, Password: password

Doing these exact steps works on windows with the java 8 installer from Oracle so I don't think the application is entirely at fault here.

Huge thanks in advance and hopefully I can learn a lot from this.

P.s: yes I know a java KVM client is horrible in terms of security ... should I test this setup for my use it would be local and isolated in a subnet.
