I have been having trouble connecting to wifi on my thinkpads, same problem on both but this one is about my t420.
I followed the installation guide and referencing the network config page was trying to set up my wifi but no luck, managed ethernet.
i'm using the iwlwifi driver for a centrino ultimate-n 6300.
i try to connect like this:
iwctldevice listto check the device name, it's wlan0
station wlan0 scanstation wlan0 get-networksstation wlan0 connect "mySSID"i get prompted to enter the passphrase, i do
it returns
Operation failedI tried making the iwlwifi.conf but that didnt work, i did also try using wpa-supplicant on another install but still couldnt connect.
output of
systemctl status iwd.servicedmesg | grep iwlwifi
pacman log
journal
i did search the forums too and just google but couldn't find anything that i thought fit that worked but this is my first time with arch so i could of missed it easy sorry lol

this is the error your getting...
Reason: 15=4WAY_HANDSHAKE_TIMEOUTYou might have a look at this..
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 7#p1569207
It's the same error with 2 different AP's.
Edit0: Or maybe 2 different radios on the same AP

@zod
thank you for the reply!
the solution eyome came to seems to be removing non ascii characters from the passphrase, mine is all ascii, just a bunch of letters, so not the issue i think, unfortunately ):
AP means access point here right? i think there is a duplicate access point, we've just got a regular sky router in the house and a 'qbox', but i did disable them when testing at one point

I have no idea if this will help, but you can generate the configuration file for the network in advance, to avoid having to type the password at connect time:

@Ferdinand
thank you this is good to know! i did manage to figure it out though, it turns out all this time i've just been referencing a stickynote with the wrong passphrase on it and somehow didnt realise until weeks later today, very embarrassing
